November Happenings

We are hot and heavy into the "flu season".  I am told by my physician that if we eliminate sugar from our diet when we catch a cold we will recover a lot faster.  So nix the orange juice and take a vitamin C tab instead.
I've been using "OnGuard Essential Oil" to ward off the onset of a cold.

If you are interested in a sample of this fabulous essential oil just email me at buyessentials@hotmail.com and include your mailing address.  Or just stop by the Kapolei Open Market on Saturday, November 12, 2011 from 8 am to 1 pm.  I'll have a booth there.

Family Physician Kit

Every home needs ten basic essential oils.  These oils are found in the Family Physician Kit!

1.  Lavender - It is the most versatile and popular oil. It is great for burns and takes aways pain and blistering fast! It works very well as a sleep aid and it has a very calming effect. It also works as an antihistamine and provides relief from insect bites. Rub on your feet each night for relaxation, or headache relief.

2.  Lemon - Use a drop of lemon every day in your water to keep your body acid free (alkaline). Lemon helps clean your lymphatic system.  It is excellent for sore throats-- just place a droop on your tongue or gargle with lemon water. You can also use it as a cleaning agent. Lemon oil will clean ninety-nine percent of bacteria.

3.  Peppermint - It has been double-blind studied against Tylenol and was proven to be just as effective in treating headaches.  Peppermint Oil was reported by the Mayo Clinic as being the most promising treatment for I.B.S.  It is fantastic for digestive issues and when inhaled it will stimulate the brain to increase alertness.

4.  Melaleuca (Tea Tree Oil) - This is fantastic for acne since most acne medications are antibacterial creams, melaleuca is antibacterial.  It is also great for most skin conditions: general rashes, eczema, psoriasis, fungal infections, and MRSA.  It will work really well for pink eye.  You can rub it on your head to control dandruff and on your chest for coughs.

5.  Deep Blue  -  It reduces inflammations and relieves sore muscles and back aches.  Use this oil on all sport related injuries and will also relieve headaches.

6. Oregano - It is your heaviest fighter oil with several studies proving its ability to kill MRSA (staff infection). It is one of the most important oils to use when fighting any infection. It is a very hot oil and must be diluted with any carrier oil (Coconut Oil, Olive Oil, Almond Oil etc) to apply topically.
7. On Guard - This oil helps to strengthen your immune system.  This is great for disinfecting via a diffuser.  Rub this on your feet every night for cold prevention.

8.  Breathe - Use this oil from respiratory infections or coughs.  Rub it on your chest to help combat congestion.  Rub on chest and under your nostrils to help with snoring.  Unlike other Vapor Rubs, Breathe will actually assist your body in fighting off the infection.

9.  DigestZen - this blend will work for any digestive disorder: Acid Reflux, heartburn, H.Pylori Bacteria, diarrhea, Constipation, IBS, etc. Rub four drops of DigestZen on your stomach for all the above.  Seventy percent of your immune function is through your GI so if you have a compromised GI you have a compromised immune system. Using DigestZen will help strengthen immune system.

10. Frankincesnse - This oil will help increase the amount of oxygen in the limbic system of the brain  This will lead to an increase of secretions of antibodies, endorphins and neurotransmitters.  Frankincense has the ability to break the blood-brain barrier and has show promising effects in people suffering from depression and addictions.  It can be used as an anti-depressant, anti-infectious, antiseptic and antitumoral.

MANAGING YOUR HEALTH

Eating Right
Eating right is a matter of quality and quantity. Our diets should be rich in foods with an abundance of antioxidants, vitamins, minerals, and enzymes. A healthy diet also includes low-fat sources of protein, moderate amounts of complex carbohydrates, and limited fats. Eating right means choosing fresh, whole, unprocessed foods and avoiding foods that are over processed and contain high levels of simple sugars and saturated fats. The dōTERRA philosophy of eating right also includes the daily consumption of dietary supplements to ensure optimal levels of key nutrients that are essential for longevity and wellness.

Exercising
Regular, moderate exercise is essential for optimal physical and emotional wellness. Coupled with eating right, regular exercise can help one maintain healthy body weight and composition. Healthy activity begins with taking the stairs, walking to lunch, and generally having a "mentality of movement." A more complete exercise program includes aerobic activity, flexibility exercise, and strength training.

Rest and Manage Stress
Living healthy includes appropriate time for rest and relaxation. Regular sleep is an often skipped, but essential practice for optimal health. Managing stress is also important to maintaining good health. When we do not allow our bodies appropriate time for rest and regeneration, we can compromise our immune defenses and may become more prone to infection and disease. Chronic stress remains a significant health threat and has been tied to numerous degenerative conditions.

Reduce Toxic Load
In spite of our best efforts to practice good wellness habits, we can be exposed to toxic environmental stressors that can have deleterious effects on our health. Common toxic stressors include overexposure to UV rays, toxic ingredients in products throughout our homes, and chemical pollutants in our air and water. Being aware of these toxic threats to our health and choosing products that provide protection and peace of mind from such toxins are also important to optimal wellness.

Informed Self Care
When we experience sub-optimal heath conditions, there are many self-care alternatives that can provide safe and effective relief of symptoms and long-term solutions to problems. Reaching for a prescription or over-the-counter drug may not always be the best first alternative to taking care of one's self when sick. dōTERRA's therapeutic-grade essential oils and other wellness products are formulated to support the body's own natural ability to keep itself healthy and can be used effectively in combination with traditional and alternative medical practices. (dōTERRA's wellness products have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration and are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.)

Proactive Medical Care
When a person is suffering from acute sickness or has been diagnosed with a disease, it is important they seek out competent and qualified medical professionals for immediate help. It is also important they take a proactive role in their personal course of treatment by learning as much as they can about their health challenge and choosing a physician who will both inform and be open to information.

My fav...the LEMON Essential Oil

Lemon Essential Oil is a yummy smelling and very useful oil. I love to use lemon oil to remove adhesive from price tags, ink marks, flavor my water, purify my hands…such a great tasting and smelling oil! It promotes health, healing, purification, and energy.

“Another favorite, this essential oil powerhouse is cold-pressed from lemon rinds to preserve its delicate nature and potent properties. Lemon is known as a powerful aromatic, topical, and internal cleanser that can be used to complement many other oils. Diffusing lemon in a room can cleanse the air and uplift mood. It can also be used on surfaces throughout the home as a non-toxic cleaning booster. For aromatic, topical or dietary use.”

Deadly Medicine

Prescription drugs kill some 200,000 Americans every year. Will that number go up, now that most clinical trials are conducted overseas—on sick Russians, homeless Poles, and slum-dwelling Chinese—in places where regulation is virtually nonexistent, the F.D.A. doesn’t reach, and “mistakes” can end up in pauper’s graves? The authors investigate the globalization of the pharmaceutical industry, and the U.S. Government’s failure to rein in a lethal profit machine.

What's in Slim and Sassy?

Slim & Sassy has been formulated to help balance and regulate our metabolism.  It contains pure cinnamon, ginger, peppermint, lemon and grapefruit essential oils.

Cinnamon –  The cinnamon helps reduce the obesity factor.  Cinnamon is as antioxidant, it helps reduce damage done to the liver, it helps us metabolize sugars more appropriately, helps balance your cholesterol, and most importantly it stops your body from producing more fat cells.

Ginger – Ginger stimulates weight loss through lipolysis (the way your body lets go of the fat in your fat cells).  It also helps your body produce more epinephrine.

Peppermint – Peppermint has been proven to curb appetite and reduce cravings.  They did a study (details on the webinar) where they compared 2 groups of people and their caloric intake.  One group didn’t change their diet, they just supplemented their meals with peppermint oil while the other group restricted their caloric intake.  They found that on average the group that took peppermint with every meal ate 2800 fewer calories per week, while those on a restricted diet consumed on average 2200 fewer calories per week.  Peppermint increases the sense of fullness after eating so that we don’t have the desire to eat as much!

Grapefruit and Lemon – Citrus oils!  Citrus oils also help reduce appetite because of their high amounts of limonene.   Limonene interferes with your cells ability to change.  So basically, it deters your body from producing more fat cells and also inhibits tumors.
